Kolkata, West Bengal, India
Amid rising political tensions ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP candidate from the Behala Paschim constituency Indranil Khan made strong remarks, emphasizing the need for free and fair polling while accusing the ruling party of intimidation tactics.
Speaking in Kolkata, Khan stressed the responsibility of authorities to maintain electoral integrity. “It is the duty of the police and the Election Commission of India to ensure that the public casts their vote freely,” he said, highlighting concerns over the conduct of elections in the state.
He expressed confidence in the people of West Bengal, describing them as peace-loving citizens who aspire for a democratic and transparent voting process. “The people of West Bengal are peace-loving,” Khan stated, indicating his belief that voters will make their choices without fear if given a fair environment.
Launching a direct attack on the ruling All India Trinamool Congress, Khan alleged that attempts are being made to create fear among voters. “We will not be scared by the hooliganism of the TMC,” he asserted, signaling a confrontational campaign stance.
Projecting confidence in his party’s prospects, Khan claimed that the ruling party is headed toward defeat in the elections. “TMC is going to lose the elections,” he said, expressing optimism about the BJP’s performance in the state.
The remarks come in the backdrop of heightened campaigning and political exchanges across West Bengal, where allegations and counter-allegations over law and order, governance, and electoral fairness have become central themes.
The Election Commission and law enforcement agencies have repeatedly emphasized their commitment to ensuring peaceful and transparent elections, with arrangements being put in place to maintain order during polling.
Khan’s statement reflects the charged political climate in West Bengal, where parties are not only campaigning for votes but also raising concerns over the conduct of elections, making free and fair polling a key issue in the ongoing electoral battle.
