Kolkata, West Bengal, India
Amid a growing political controversy in West Bengal over a video released by the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) President Humayun Kabir has strongly denied the allegations and challenged senior TMC leader Firhad Hakim to substantiate the claims.
Reacting to the video, Kabir dismissed the accusations of financial dealings and questioned the authenticity of the content. “I challenge Bobby Hakim to bring forward the person shown in the video, the one with whom I am seen sitting and discussing about money,” he said, directly addressing Firhad Hakim, who is also known as Bobby Hakim.
Kabir categorically denied any involvement in monetary transactions, stating, “I have no dealings with anyone,” and asserted that the allegations were baseless. His remarks come in response to the video circulated by the TMC, which has sparked a political row in the state.
The controversy has intensified the ongoing war of words between political parties in West Bengal ahead of the Assembly elections. The issue of alleged videos and claims of financial impropriety has become a major flashpoint, with leaders from different parties engaging in sharp exchanges.
Earlier, TMC leaders had defended the release of the video, maintaining that it was sourced independently and suggesting that its authenticity could be verified through legal channels. In response, Kabir has now called for concrete proof and challenged his political opponents to present evidence in a transparent manner.
Political observers note that such allegations and counter-allegations are becoming increasingly common in the state’s election campaign, often influencing public discourse and shaping political narratives.
So far, there has been no official confirmation regarding the authenticity of the video from independent authorities, and no legal proceedings have been reported in connection with the matter.
Kabir’s challenge adds a new dimension to the controversy, as the dispute over the video is likely to escalate further, potentially moving into legal or investigative forums if either side pursues the matter formally.
