MAMATA BANERJEE ALLEGES BIAS OVER RALLY PERMISSIONS IN KOLKATA, QUESTIONS PRIORITY GIVEN TO PM’S EVENT…

Kolkata, West Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a public meeting in the Jorasanko Assembly constituency, raising serious concerns over alleged discrimination in granting permissions for political gatherings during the ongoing election campaign.

Speaking before a large crowd, Mamata Banerjee revealed that a scheduled meeting in the Collin Lane area was denied permission by the authorities, a move she described as unfair and politically motivated. She emphasized that such restrictions raise important questions about neutrality and equal treatment during the electoral process.

“If a political party had been holding a meeting there—and I hadn’t been granted permission—I wouldn’t have given it a second thought,” she stated, indicating that the issue goes beyond individual inconvenience and reflects a broader concern about democratic fairness.

The Chief Minister further alleged that she was explicitly informed by the Election Commission of India that permission would not be granted for her event. However, she contrasted this with what she described as preferential treatment given to another high-profile political gathering.

“You denied permission for my meeting—yet you prioritise the Prime Minister’s meeting within six hours,” she said, directly questioning the decision-making process and hinting at possible bias in administrative actions.

Her remarks come amid an intensifying political battle in West Bengal, where major parties are actively campaigning for the upcoming elections. The issue of rally permissions and administrative neutrality has now become a key point of contention, adding to the already charged political environment.

Banerjee’s statements are likely to resonate strongly among her supporters, as she positions herself as challenging what she perceives as unequal treatment. The allegations have further fueled the debate on whether all political parties are being given a level playing field during the election campaign.

The Jorasanko Assembly constituency, currently witnessing multiple high-profile rallies, has emerged as a focal point of political activity. With leaders from different parties addressing back-to-back public meetings, the region is becoming a battleground for competing narratives and voter outreach.

Mamata Banerjee’s address has added a new dimension to the campaign discourse, bringing issues of fairness, administrative transparency, and democratic principles to the forefront. As the elections approach, such developments are expected to play a crucial role in shaping public perception and political momentum in the state.
