Kolkata, West Bengal, India
Amid the intensifying political battle in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh has levelled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming the existence of a large scale election related scam and demanding a thorough investigation into the matter.
Speaking in Kolkata, Kunal Ghosh alleged that there is a ₹1000 crore scam linked to election activities, claiming that certain groups were created to influence voters across different communities. He said that these groups were allegedly formed to mislead sections of society, including Matuas, Hindus, and Muslims, in an attempt to manipulate the electoral environment.
He claimed that multiple “teams” were formed to influence voters, describing them as part of a broader strategy to impact the elections.
Referring to an individual named Humayun Kabir, Kunal Ghosh alleged that a video has surfaced in which Kabir is heard making claims about receiving large sums of money in connection with the matter. According to Ghosh, the video allegedly mentions an advance amount of ₹200 crore and also refers to the Prime Minister’s Office.
He raised questions about the alleged mention of the PMO in the video and demanded clarity on whether any official was involved, calling for a detailed investigation.
Kunal Ghosh further questioned why agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate have not yet taken action in connection with the allegations. He said that given the seriousness of the claims, it is necessary for authorities to step in and conduct an impartial inquiry.
He demanded that those allegedly involved be interrogated and that the matter be thoroughly investigated, describing it as a serious financial issue linked to the election process.
The allegations have added another layer to the already charged political atmosphere in West Bengal, where parties have been exchanging sharp accusations ahead of the Assembly elections. Issues related to voter lists, campaign practices, and use of agencies have been central to the political discourse in recent weeks.
It is important to note that these claims are political allegations made by a party leader, and there has been no official confirmation or response regarding the matter at this stage.
With elections approaching, such allegations and counter allegations are expected to intensify, further shaping the political narrative in the state.
