KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL — With election preparations intensifying in West Bengal, authorities have put in place comprehensive security arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful polling, according to District Election Officer (South) Randhir Kumar.

Speaking in Kolkata, Kumar outlined a multi-layered security strategy, emphasizing that all necessary measures have been implemented to maintain law and order and instill confidence among voters ahead of the elections. His remarks reflect the administration’s focus on conducting free, fair, and transparent polling.

He stated that Central Armed Police Forces have already been deployed across sensitive areas, with continuous route marches being conducted to strengthen visibility and deterrence. These measures are aimed at reassuring the public and preventing any untoward incidents during the election process.

In addition to physical security, the administration is also focusing on public engagement. Kumar noted that confidence-building initiatives are being carried out, along with awareness campaigns to sensitise voters about their rights and encourage participation in the democratic process. Such efforts are seen as crucial in ensuring a high voter turnout and reducing fear or hesitation among citizens.

A key highlight of the election preparedness is the use of technology. Kumar confirmed that webcasting has been made mandatory at every polling station, allowing real-time monitoring to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the voting process. This move is expected to significantly reduce the chances of malpractice and enhance trust in the system.

He further added that Quick Response Teams will be deployed to handle any emergencies swiftly. These teams are trained to respond to situations on the ground, ensuring immediate action in case of any disturbances or security concerns.

Regular coordination meetings are also being held between election officials, police authorities, and CAPF coordinators. Kumar подчеркнул that continuous information sharing and coordination among agencies are key to maintaining a secure and well-managed election environment.

The extensive preparations highlight the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the electoral process, ensuring that voters can exercise their democratic rights in a safe, secure, and transparent atmosphere.
