Rakesh Singh Highlights Local Issues in Kolkata Port, Says Voters Seeking Change

Date:

KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL — BJP candidate from the Port Assembly constituency Rakesh Singh has raised concerns over basic infrastructure and civic issues in the area, stating that voters are increasingly looking for change ahead of the elections.

Speaking in Kolkata, Singh said that residents of the port area have been facing long-standing challenges related to roads, healthcare, and transportation, which he claimed have not been adequately addressed over the years. He alleged that for the past 15 years, the local leadership has focused on personal interests rather than public welfare, leaving many issues unresolved.

He further stated that there is a growing sense of dissatisfaction among voters, particularly among economically weaker sections, who feel neglected despite repeated demands for development and better services. According to Singh, this sentiment is shaping the political mood in the constituency.

Highlighting the ongoing campaign, Singh noted that he is receiving strong support from party workers, local residents, and his family, with campaign activities being carried out actively across the constituency. He expressed confidence that this grassroots engagement is helping to connect with voters and understand their concerns more effectively.

Singh also referred to past election dynamics, claiming that external and shifted voters had previously contributed to a significant margin in the constituency, but suggested that the situation is different this time. He asserted that the current electoral environment reflects a shift in public opinion.

He added that people from different communities, including both Hindus and Muslims, are expressing dissatisfaction over local issues, indicating that concerns cut across social and religious lines. According to him, voters are now more focused on development, governance, and accountability.

The remarks come as political campaigning intensifies in West Bengal, with parties highlighting local issues and voter sentiments in the run-up to elections. Candidates across constituencies are focusing on infrastructure, public services, and community concerns to strengthen their appeal among voters.

Rakesh Singh’s statements reflect the BJP’s campaign narrative in the region, emphasizing development issues and positioning the election as an opportunity for change in the Kolkata Port constituency.
