KUNAL GHOSH CALLS FOR UNITED OPPOSITION SUPPORT TO TMC IN WEST BENGAL ELECTIONS

Date:

Kolkata, West Bengal

Amid the intensifying political battle in the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from Beleghata, Kunal Ghosh, has made a strong appeal for opposition unity against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking in Kolkata, Ghosh emphasized that the ongoing elections are not limited to West Bengal but carry national significance.

Referring to comments made by Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal, Ghosh stated that the entire country is closely watching the West Bengal elections, underlining the broader political implications of the contest. He suggested that the outcome in the state could influence national political dynamics in the coming years.

“This is not just an election of West Bengal, but of the entire country,” Ghosh said, echoing the sentiment that the stakes go beyond regional politics. According to him, the BJP has made West Bengal a central focus of its political strategy, which has intensified the competition in the state.

Ghosh alleged that the BJP is targeting not only West Bengal but also leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, framing the contest as part of a larger political confrontation. He claimed that multiple opposition parties are facing pressure and that this has created a need for greater coordination among them.

In this context, the TMC leader made a direct appeal to all parties that oppose the BJP. He urged them to come together and strengthen the Trinamool Congress under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, presenting her as the central figure capable of leading a unified resistance.

“To defeat the BJP, all votes should go to TMC,” Ghosh stated, making a clear call for consolidation of votes in favor of his party. He argued that a fragmented opposition would only benefit the BJP, while a united front could significantly alter the electoral outcome.

The statement reflects the broader strategy being adopted by the TMC, which is positioning itself as the primary challenger to the BJP in West Bengal. By appealing to opposition unity, the party is attempting to bring together diverse political groups and voters under a common objective.

The West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 have become a high-stakes contest, drawing attention from across the country. Leaders from various political parties are actively campaigning, highlighting key issues such as governance, development, law and order, and federal relations.

Observers note that the call for opposition unity is not new but has gained renewed urgency in the current political climate. The effectiveness of such an appeal will depend on ground-level coordination and voter response, as well as the ability of parties to align their strategies.

At the same time, the BJP has been projecting its own vision for the state, focusing on governance reforms and development, leading to a sharp and competitive political environment. The exchange of strong statements from both sides indicates the intensity of the campaign.

Kunal Ghosh’s remarks highlight the TMC’s effort to expand its support base and position itself at the center of a broader anti-BJP narrative, as the elections continue to unfold across multiple phases.

As voting progresses, the role of alliances, voter turnout, and regional dynamics will play a decisive role in shaping the final outcome. The call for unity adds another dimension to the contest, making the West Bengal elections one of the most closely watched political events in the country.
