KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL — District Election Officer (South Kolkata) Randhir Kumar led a voter awareness rally in the Bhowanipore area as part of efforts to encourage participation in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026.
The rally was organised in coordination with security forces, including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Kolkata Police, aiming to build confidence among voters and ensure a secure electoral environment.
Speaking during the outreach initiative, Randhir Kumar said that the district administration, along with security agencies, is actively engaging with residents across different areas to spread awareness about voting rights and procedures. He emphasised that teams are visiting localities, interacting with citizens, and addressing their concerns directly.
He assured voters that there is no need to fear any external pressure or intimidation, and that authorities are committed to ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election process. He urged citizens to come forward and cast their votes without hesitation, highlighting the importance of public participation in strengthening democracy.
Kumar also stated that people have been encouraged to report any issues or irregularities to election officials, adding that mechanisms are in place to respond promptly to complaints. The administration, he noted, is focused on creating a safe and accessible voting environment for all.
According to officials, the awareness drive is part of a broader strategy to increase voter turnout and reinforce confidence in the electoral system, particularly in areas where concerns about safety or interference may exist.
He further mentioned that the response from the public has been positive, with many residents expressing willingness to participate in the democratic process. Authorities plan to continue similar outreach efforts in other parts of the district in the lead-up to polling day.
The initiative underscores the administration’s efforts to ensure a transparent and fear-free electoral process, as West Bengal prepares for the upcoming Assembly elections.
