Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Cut by Over ₹200 in Delhi, Kolkata; Relief for Businesses

Date:

In a significant relief for restaurants, hotels and commercial establishments, the government has reduced the prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by more than ₹200 in Delhi and Kolkata.

The revised prices came into effect on August 1, providing businesses with lower fuel costs after months of elevated prices driven by global energy market volatility.

According to the latest revision:

  • Delhi: Commercial LPG cylinder price reduced by ₹202
  • Kolkata: Commercial LPG cylinder price reduced by ₹209

Following the revision, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder will cost ₹2,872.50 in Kolkata.

The reduction applies only to commercial LPG cylinders used by businesses.

The government clarified that 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders used by households remain unchanged.

The latest revision affects only commercial consumers such as:

  • Restaurants
  • Hotels
  • Catering businesses
  • Food outlets
  • Small commercial establishments

This marks the second consecutive reduction in commercial LPG prices after a similar cut in July.

The price reductions partially offset the sharp increases witnessed over recent months as international LPG prices rose due to geopolitical tensions and supply concerns.

Lower commercial LPG prices are expected to benefit several sectors by reducing operating expenses.

Industries likely to benefit include:

  • Hospitality
  • Food service
  • Restaurants
  • Small eateries
  • Catering services

The reduction could help businesses manage costs more effectively while supporting commercial activity.

The announcement comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review India’s preparedness amid the evolving situation in West Asia.

Senior ministers and officials reviewed:

  • LPG availability
  • Petrol and diesel supplies
  • Energy security
  • Supply chain preparedness

According to the government, there is no shortage of LPG, petrol or diesel in the country, despite global geopolitical uncertainties.
