KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL — BJP MP Biplab Kumar Deb launched a strong attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming that the people of the state have already decided to bring about political change.
Speaking in Kolkata, Deb said that the public had made up its mind long ago, and suggested that the current leadership is no longer in touch with ground realities. He remarked that Banerjee is now “merely an acting Chief Minister,” alleging that she has failed to fulfil her responsibilities.
He further criticised her governance, stating that there is a lack of vision and depth in leadership, and questioned the state’s economic performance. Referring to West Bengal’s past, he said that a state which once contributed significantly to the country’s GDP has now seen a decline, and added that those responsible would be held accountable by the people.
Deb also raised cultural concerns, alleging that there has not been adequate respect shown towards icons like Rabindranath Tagore. He claimed that there is a disconnect between the current leadership and the cultural identity of Bengal.
His remarks come amid heightened political activity in the state ahead of elections, with leaders from different parties engaging in sharp exchanges over governance, development, and cultural issues.
Biplab Kumar Deb’s statement reflects the BJP’s criticism of the current West Bengal government, focusing on governance, economic performance, and cultural representation as key issues in the political debate.
