Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya Attacks TMC and Rahul Gandhi, Escalates Political War in West Bengal..

Date:

KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL — CPI(M) leader and senior advocate Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya has launched a sharp multi-front political attack, targeting both the Trinamool Congress and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, as the political atmosphere in West Bengal intensifies ahead of crucial electoral developments.

Speaking in Kolkata, Bhattacharya responded to Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks regarding the role of Communist parties in Bengal’s industrial decline. He stated that Rahul Gandhi lacks adequate understanding of the state’s political and economic history, suggesting that such statements reflect incomplete or inaccurate information. His comments indicate growing friction even among opposition voices, highlighting divisions in political narratives.

Turning his focus toward the ongoing coal scam controversy, Bhattacharya made serious allegations against the Trinamool Congress. He claimed that I-PAC operates as a shell entity linked to the ruling party, and alleged that funds generated through corruption are being routed through such channels for political purposes. These remarks come amid heightened scrutiny following recent arrests connected to the case.

He further asserted that the relationship between I-PAC and the Trinamool Congress raises critical questions about transparency and accountability, adding that such developments are indicative of deeper systemic issues. According to him, investigations into the matter could reveal a broader network of financial irregularities.

Bhattacharya also launched a direct attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that her administration has been marked by widespread corruption and misgovernance. He claimed that sectors such as education and healthcare have been compromised, describing them as having been “commercialized” under the current regime, a charge that reflects longstanding opposition criticism.

In a strongly worded statement, he suggested that the Chief Minister is anticipating electoral defeat and is attempting to consolidate support through questionable means, indicating a belief within his party that the political tide may be shifting. He also alleged that certain actions are being taken to maintain influence amid growing challenges.

The remarks come at a time when West Bengal’s political landscape is witnessing intense exchanges among multiple parties, with accusations and counter-accusations dominating the discourse. The involvement of investigative agencies, combined with electoral campaigning, has further heightened tensions.

Bhattacharya’s statements underline the increasingly complex and fragmented political contest in the state, where not only rival parties but also opposition groups are engaging in sharp criticism of one another, shaping a highly competitive and unpredictable electoral environment.
