Priyanka Tibrewal Raises Election Concerns, Seeks Action Against Police Officials in Kolkata…

Date:

KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL — BJP candidate from Entally Assembly constituency Priyanka Tibrewal has raised serious concerns over the conduct of election-related processes and alleged lapses in law enforcement, intensifying the political atmosphere ahead of polling in West Bengal.

Speaking in Kolkata, Tibrewal stated that she has formally lodged a complaint with the Commissioner, seeking dismissal and suspension of certain police station officers-in-charge, alleging irregularities and lack of accountability. She questioned the feasibility of proper election conduct, pointing out that the presence of a large number of candidate agents in a single room raises doubts about the transparency and fairness of the process.

She further indicated that she plans to escalate the matter to the Election Commission, stating that she would meet the Chief Electoral Officer to seek clarification. According to her, such conditions could compromise the integrity of the electoral process, making it essential for authorities to provide clear explanations and corrective measures.

In addition to procedural concerns, Tibrewal also raised allegations regarding campaign-related incidents. She stated that her team had obtained all necessary permissions through the Suvidha app of the Election Commission to carry out campaigning activities, asserting that they were operating within the legal framework.

However, she alleged that despite having proper approvals, her campaign activities have repeatedly faced disruptions, which she described as pre-planned attacks by members associated with the ruling Trinamool Congress. According to her, such incidents are not isolated but have occurred in previous elections as well.

Tibrewal emphasized that the police had been informed in advance about the campaign schedule, including the recent instance. She questioned why adequate preventive measures were not taken, suggesting that the response from local authorities has been insufficient despite prior intimation.

Her remarks reflect growing tensions on the ground as political parties gear up for the elections, with allegations of interference, violence, and administrative bias becoming increasingly prominent. The issue of ensuring free and fair elections remains central to the ongoing political discourse in the state.

The Election Commission and local administration are expected to closely monitor such complaints as polling approaches, given the sensitivity of the situation. Maintaining transparency, security, and neutrality in the electoral process will be critical in addressing concerns raised by candidates and ensuring public confidence.

Priyanka Tibrewal’s statements highlight the challenges and disputes surrounding election preparedness in West Bengal, adding another layer to the already intense political contest in the state.
